Formal Presentation Report

On the 22nd of May I attended a presentation in T005 by Mr. Abdullah Al Homoudi ( H00161058) at 14:20
Mr. Abdullah Al Homoudi was discussing the Industrial pollution and how its effecting the marine life.
Its was a quite short presentation which took 5 minutes to complete .During the presentation I noticed Mr. Al Homoudi’s vocal were in good field or in good range. also he managed to keep a excellent eye contact with the audience.
It seems that Mr. Al Homoudi learned presentation skills; he got experienced in this area by accepting the critiques and try to improve his skill. There is a huge improving between this presentation and the previous one. He covered all the main point with a suitable time frame..
If I had a critique Mr. Al Homoudi’s presentation I would say that the example he used in the beginning was interesting and not very clear to the audience .We couldn’t catch his point and how is washing machine is related to the marine pollution.

Commnucative Skills

Reflective Log:

Several experiences helped me during this course, one of the most important to me was being able to stand in front many people and give a presentation about any subject. Also it helped me to manage my work requirements by establishing a suitable meeting with clear agendas. Both these experience allowed me to be more confident in front the audience and colleagues also improve my English speaking skills.
The most important thing to me that I changed in my presentation was the way I handle my body gestures more efficiently during my presentation. A good example of this would be to lower my voice during moments I wanted people to listen carefully to what I was saying and then using a louder tone to emphasis  in a exciting point.

Communicative Skills:
The skill I feel improved during this course would be the ability to have greater confidence when talking about any project or subject. Not everyone can lead the project and not everyone is great at communication and presentation skills. so finding the right person for the right position means your group has confidence in you for that position.
Some of the places I feel I could use the new skills I have learned would be job interviews or meeting and how to use your time wisely in the meetings.
My biggest challenges in formal communications were getting my body gestures to meet the idea I was trying to convey to the audience.
In order for me to get better at this weakness in my formal communication I would need to practice and try to put body to speech. this way when I talk my body ,hands and voice all say that same things which is showing the idea of the subject.

On the 24th of April I attended a presentation in W115 by Mr. Abdullah Al Homoudi ( H00161058) at 13:45
Mr. Abdullah Homoudi was discussing the advantages of Apple's Safari search browser. This was a short presentation and took about  3 minutes to complete.During the presentation I noticed that Mr. Homoudi's posture and vocal range were in good form.During his speech he managed to keep good eye contact with the audience he was speaking to and would not focus on a single out anyone as most presenters often do . His tone was strong but not overpowering and made all listening feel at ease.Mr. Homoudi himself was a bit nervous at the beginning of his speech, but quickly calmed down and things flowed smoothly afterward.
If I had to critique Mr.Homoudi's speech fairly I would say the speech was very good however I feel he left out few of what I would consider important facts. One of these facts would be the speed of Safari vs. other search browsers. The ease of use compared to other like browsers and the lack of viruses in the Safari search criwser compared to others

Meeting report:
Today’s meeting was held at 16:00 and concluded at 16:20 on the 17th of March 2011. The ADMC Room W113 was the location for this forum. All principle members were present to include the Chair/Lead Mr. Abdulla Al Homoudi, Minutes Keeper: Mr. Abdulaziz Al Ali and fellow board members Mr. Ahmed Sayed, Mr. Fares Al Shamsi, and Mr. Moaath. The major topics of this discussion were the effects of College Life on our young students who are away from home. During our discussion our first issue was how to keep students from getting bored while staying at the ADMC. We came up with several ways to help the students in this area; one way would be by going out on picnics and having more sporting events which would help build togetherness and strong friendship bonds. Our second issue was that some students felt homesick. We also came up with several good ideas to help students overcome this feeling which were; Volunteering in elderly homes. Make building accommodations friendlier. Third on our agenda was the lack of motivation; We realized that by making starting community groups the students would be able to get involved in many different activities away from the ADMC. Last on our list was finding a way to help build relationships between students and getting them to bond as a team. We agreed that by welcoming new personnel with a party when they arrive would help get over nervousness and to relax new personnel, we also added that by competing in sports as teams this would help grow the bonds of friendship and teamwork we are after. In addition our ideas and suggestions will be sent to the student academic service manager Mr. Khalid Abdullah next meeting will be held on 27th of March 2011 if there is any delay or information regarding the meeting all members will receive an email with all the details. Finally the meeting was useful and went well, all members were participating in a wise way and useful way. After all we met our objectives by finding suitable ideas which hopefully will be implemented soon.
My Role in The meeting :
During the meeting I was a note taker so I created the agenda one week in advance then I discussed the contents with the chairman Mr. Abdullah Al Hamoudi before distributing the agenda to all members so they were so pleased and appreciated. My priority task was to take all the notes and suggestions and sent it to Academic Service Manager for implementation but I participated more by giving ideas and discuss about it with all members, obviously it enriches the meeting.   We worked as a team during this meeting everyone was trying to participate and listen to different ideas. Actually they helped me a lot by improving my ideas and make it more efficient. I think for the next meeting it would be better if I provide some statistics which helps all members to estimate the value of this problem.  Finally the meeting went smooth and successful and we met our objectives.
